#ChangeHasCome: President John Mahama Calls Nana Akufo-Addo To Concede Defeat In Ghana Election

Ghana’s incumbent president, John Mahama has conceded defeat in this year’s presidential election and has gone ahead to call Nana Akufo-Addo to congratulate him.

RED’s founding partner, Adebola Williams, who worked on Nana Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s campaign, confirmed this. It’s understood President Mahama placed the call at 7.51pm, Ghanaian time.

Williams tweeted:

“GhanaDecides#GhanaHasDecided At 7:51 PM President John Mahama called to congratulate concede Nana Akufo-Addo #MrPresident #StateCraft.”

This was further confirmed when Akufo-Addo also took to Twitter. He wrote:

“Wait for it … Wait for it … Wait for it … Wait for it … Wait for it … Wait for it … Wait for it … #ChangeHasCome”

“A few minutes ago, I received a call from President @JDMahama congratulating me on winning the 2016 Presidential Election. #ChangeHasCome”

Meanwhile, earlier yesterday, two popular private radio stations in Ghana reported that Akufo-Addo, who contested under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has won the polls. Nana-Addo won the election with an absolute majority over the ruling President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress, NDC.
The results, the station said, was based on its count of 233 constituencies, out of 275.
Citi FM declared that Akufo-Addo garnered 54.97% based on 231 constituencies, whereas, Joy FM’s website showed the opposition candidate winning 53.27% of the vote and Mahama with 44.93 percent.

So Ghana has basically decided and the people went for change.
