Top News Stories Today: 77-Year-Old Man Deemed Too Old To Be A Threat Stabs Woman To Death In Front Of Her Children
A man identified as Albert Flick, 77, who was deemed too old to be a threat, was convicted Wednesday of stabbing 48-year-old woman Kimberly Dobbie, 11 times in front of her twin boys in a broad daylight attack outside a Maine laundromat in 2018. This is the second time in four decades he has been found guilty of such a crime. He had previously served 25 years behind bars for the 1979 stabbing murder of his then-wife, also in front of children – their’s and his wife’s young daughter from a previous relationship, reports WCSH.
Assistant Attorney General Bud Ellis showed jurors surveillance video of the attack. Flick’s purchase of the knives used in the attack was also captured on surveillance cameras. People who knew Dobbie testified that Flick had become infatuated with her — but that she had no interest in him. He also knew that she would be leaving town so he thought to himself, “If I can’t have her, I will kill her.”
Jurors deliberated less than an hour before reaching a guilty verdict.
According to reports, Flick has a long history of violence against women. He was sentenced to prison in 1979 and served 25 years for stabbing his then-wife more than a dozen times. He was also sentenced in 2010 for assaulting another woman. At the time, the judge ignored the recommendation of the prosecutor for a longer sentence, saying Flick would not be a threat because of his age and it didn’t make sense to keep him incarcerated.
He was released in 2014.
