Education Is Our Passport To The Future — Comedian AY Reacts After Being Cyber Lashed
Two days ago, Comedian AY reacted to Davido being mobbed by NYSC Corps members. He said “No Number One Citizen Of Nigeria” can has gotten the type of welcome OBO received. It didn’t end there. The comedian also said that Education Is Our Passport To The Future. Strangely enough, this didn’t go down too well with some people and he was cyber lashed for it.
AY has reacted to the backlash and has clarified his stance. He wrote;
“2 days ago i got some cyber lashing for Saying “Education is our passport to the future” after indicating how proud i was of @davidoofficial for taking a bold step to acquire knowledge, even when we all know that he swims in millions of Naira. Yes! you can argue that he is ‘Davido’ today as a result of his God given talent, but you cannot rule out all the formal and informal education he acquired to nourish that talent to make it more recognisable and global.
Education is not just about going to school and getting a degree. It’s an enlightening experience that facilitates learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. Education gives us a knowledge of the world around us and changes it into something better. It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life.
Once again permit me to say that education is key. A combination of talent and education is useful in life success. I think they both go hand in hand. Being naturally talented is always an advantage that can be further realized through education, but you must also understand that hard work is the true enabler of success. Remember that Nike quote “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard”. It has been proven that some people who have had talent were not able to express it due to the lack of knowledge, and people with education have honed their talents and ruled and build empires.
Ever wondered if Dangote, Otedola and Bill Gates hadn’t had education would they still be the richest men that we all respect? Education makes us capable of interpreting things, among other things. It is not just about lessons in textbooks. It is about the lessons of life. One thing I wish I can do someday as AY is to provide education for all: there is no illiterate that can change the world for good!! What do i even know self? Let me just go and promote my #MerryMen #YorubaDemons in Cinemas from September 28.”
