Entertainment Tonight Celebrity News: Taylor Swift Reveals Her Songs Directly Influenced By Game of Thrones
Fans of Game of Thrones are awaiting the last two episodes of the series. While at that, Taylor Swift, 29, has revealed that all of her songs are directly influenced by the HBO fantasy series..
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the singer said she first started binge-watching the HBO fantasy series in 2016 but was able to avoid spoilers. She also disclosed that a lot of songs on her 2017 album Reputation was influenced by the show. She said:
‘So much of my imagination was spent on Game of Thrones,’
‘At the time, I was making reputation and I didn’t talk about it in interviews, so I didn’t reveal that a lot of the songs were influenced by the show.’
According to Swift, Reputation ended up becoming a double-album, with one album featuring songs about vengeance, and the other, focusing on love, and, ‘something sacred throughout all the battle cries.’
‘These songs were half based on what I was going through, but seeing them through a Game of Thrones filter,’ Swift said, before breaking down specific examples.
‘Look What You Made Me Do is literally Arya Stark’s kill list,’ Swift said during her interview.
‘King of My Heart was influenced by Khal Drogo and Daenerys,’ Swift added, referring to Jason Momoa’s character from Season 1 and Emilia Clarke’s character.
‘It’s even got this post-hook of drums — I wanted them to sound like Dothraki drums,’ Swift said.
Taylor Swift also integrated plot lines from Season 7 into the album, just before it dropped. The singer added:
‘I Did Something Bad I wrote after Arya and Sansa conspire to kill Littlefinger. ”
The singer also said that Look What You Made Me Do has, ‘very Cersei vibes, too. Daenerys as well,’ before revealing that she told Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
‘I was sitting there going, “Do I tell them? Is that weird? No one asked for this information.” [But] one of the first things they said was ‘Our daughters love your music.’ I’m like, “This is my in.”‘
When quizzed on who she thought would end up on the Iron Throne, Swift speculated that one of the show’s powerful women would end up on top.
‘Daenerys, Arya, or Sansa,” she says. “But if I’m being realistic, I think Sansa has the skill set and the ability to delegate and put on a brave face but a stoic demeanor,’ adding that Arya would be, ‘hand of the king.’
