According to lovebscott, Jussie Smollett and writer-director Patrik-Ian Polk (Noah’s Arc, Being Mary Jane, P-Valley) were once married. They reportedly did their wedding in 2011 after Patrik cast Jussie in his 2010 movie ‘The Skinny’. They divorced in 2014.

It’s understood Jussie’s family was not happy with the union which was probably why it was hidden from the public. However, ‘Empire’ director Lee Daniels questioned Jussie about the secret marriage as he signed on for the show.
