News Media: Man Wanted In Murder Of Woman Found Dead Behind Vacant Mobile Home In Lancaster County
Lancaster County Deputies are on the hunt for a man believed to be responsible for the murder of a woman found dead behind a vacant home on Tuesday in the Rich Hill community.
The suspect has been identified as Derrick Allen McIlwain, 41, and the authorities think he killed Kimberly Alger, 36. Her body was discovered at the home on Spirit Road near the steps leading to the back porch.
According to a neighbour who spoke to Channel 9, she was informed by an officer that the body was discovered after they received a call that somebody had put a note on the door to rent the mobile home and saw a body. McIlwain was initially wanted for domestic violence of a high aggravated nature against Alger because of an incident that happened days before her body was discovered, but deputies are now charging him with her death. Sheriff Barry Faile said:
“It is urgent that McIlwain be located and taken into custody on these charges.”
“We encourage anyone with information on McIlwain’s movements, activities or whereabouts to contact us immediately.”
Officials say McIlwain drives a 2006 Nissan Altima which could have a paper tag or South Carolina tag 8690LF on it. He is also reported to live in a mobile home on Dickens Road in Heath Springs. The suspect is also said to be armed and dangerous.
