There’s sad new in Nollywood as one of the industry’s veterans, Rachel Oniga has died aged 64.
Her death was announced by media personality, Seun Oloketuyi via his Instagram page. It’s understood that she passed earlier on today, Saturday, July 31.
As at the time of filing this report, it is uncertain what led to her death but there are rumours that it could have been from COVID-19 complications.
Rachel Oniga was born on 23 May 1957 in Ebutte Metta, Lagos State. The talented actress started her acting career in 1993 not long after her divorce. Her first movie, titled Onome, was after her brief job at Dutch Consultant Company, Ascoline Nigeria Limited.
Oniga featured in recent movies like ‘Chief Daddy,’ ‘Royal Hibiscus Hotel’ and ‘My Village People.’ However, she had also starred in big productions including ‘Sango,’ and Wale Adenuga’s television series, ‘Super story.’
Rachel Oniga was survived by three children and several grandchildren.
