Current News Headlines: Memphis Man Sets Girlfriend’s House On Fire With Children In It After Altercation
A man identified as Norris Berryhill, set his girlfriend’s house on fire intentionally after an argument began outside her home on Barron Avenue in East Memphis, Tennessee. It’s understood things got violent between the man and Pamela Robinson when she refused to go inside with him. It was then Berryhill stormed into one of Robinson’s children’s bedrooms and demanded to use their phone, but the child said no. Enraged, the 55-year-old man slammed the door and went into the living room and set the carpet on fire.
According to a neighbour, she heard a lot of commotion after Robinson called 911. The woman said, “When we heard the fire trucks, that’s when I went outside and saw that house was smoking”.
The flames quickly spread through the house.
According to investigators, Berryhill took off running, leaving Robinson’s three kids to fend for themselves inside the burning home. Even though the ages of the children have not yet been released by the police, one of them jumped out of a bedroom window from the second floor while the other two jumped out of their bedroom window from the first floor.
It’s gathered that two of the children cut themselves while escaping though the injuries weren’t serious.
The damage done is estimated to be around $30,000 even though firefighters put the flames out within minutes.
Investigators haven’t said what Robinson and Berryhill were fighting about.
