News Media: BBC Host Fired After Racist Tweet Of Monkey After Birth Of Royal Baby
When a royal baby is born in the UK, it attracts huge coverage across the globe. On Monday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first son arrived. Since then, the press has been gushing over baby Archie but not BBC radio host, Danny Baker who was fired after his racist monkey tweet after the birth of the royal baby.
When the first pictures of baby Archie who becomes the first royal baby with dual British/ American citizenship appeared, Baker shared a photo of a chimpanzee dressed in suit, with the caption, “Royal baby leaves hospital.” This was immediately interpreted as a very racist thing to do, and BBC also considers it to be a very serious error of judgment.
“Nobody invites this onto themselves.”
Danny Baker insists he didn’t realise the connotations of a tweet which got him sacked from the BBC.

According to the corporation, Baker’s tweet “goes against the values we as a station aim to embody. Danny’s a brilliant broadcaster but will no longer be presenting a weekly show with us.”
However, this didn’t go down too well with Baker who took to Twitter to announce that BBC had sacked him. The talk show host’s comment about red sauce references the Sausage Sandwich Game from his 5 Live show, in which listeners choose what type of sauce a celebrity would choose to eat. Baker claimed that it was supposed to be a comparison to royals and circus animals in posh clothes. He added, “Sorry my gag pic of the little fella in the posh outfit has whipped some up. Never occurred to me because, well, mind not diseased.”
“Apologetic” Danny Baker insists he didn’t realise the connotations of a tweet which got him sacked from the BBC.
