Captain Maxwell Mahama: Murdered Soldier Was Nephew To Former Ghanaian President
Captain Maxwell Mahama, the Junior Military Officer who was lynched by a mob in Boase, a mining community in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region, on suspicion that he was an armed robber, was the nephew of former Ghanaian President John Mahama. It’s gathered that the slain soldier’s father who has been identified as Captain (Rtd) Chubby Adam Mahama, is brother to John Mahama.
The deceased was killed when he went jogging on Monday morning but two women reportedly saw a pistol on him and thought he was an armed robber. They raised an alarm and called the assemblyman for the area who organized the youth of the town to lynch him. Captain Maxwell Mahama who was not dressed in his army uniform, pleaded with them telling them that he was not a criminal. This fell on deaf ears as the resident beat him, threw blocks on him until he died. They then burnt his body.
Former Ghanaian President John Mahama in a tweet, sent his condolences to the the family of Captain Mahama on their tragic loss.
My heart goes out to my brother, Capt. Chubby Adam Mahama (Rtd.) on the murder of his son, Capt. Maxwell Mahama. #RestinPeaceMaxwell.
