Rapper Cardi B Celebrates BBMA Nomination
In 1997, many thought Cardi B, 26, would not get another hit after she dominated the charts with “Bodak Yellow”. However, she’s shamed her haters for the last three years. Her debut album, Invasion Of Privacy which earned a Grammy win for Best Rap Album, ruled in 2018. The Bronx rapper took to Instagram on Thursday (April 4) to celebrate her 21 Billboard Music Awards (BBMA) nominations in a video post.
Cardi opened the video by thanking her followers and fans for supporting her on her journey in the rap game adding she was doing the video “justlbby-style” by only filming one hand. The “I Like It” rapper said this was due to looking like a stale Cheeto. She then cheekily admitted, “I’m that bitch right now.”
“I remember when all I ever wanted to do was chart on the Hot 100 charts,” Cardi B said in the video. “I was like, if I chart, I’m official. Like I celebrated my first charting — when I charted at [No.] 75 — the same way I celebrated my first No. 1 on the Billboard charts.”
Cardi B has been nominated 21 times across eighteen categories. The rapper will be competing against herself in three categories including top Hot 100 song, top-selling song and top collaboration.
