    Dayo Amusa Letter To Younger Self 10 Years Ago - Amebo Book

    Dayo Amusa has always wondered what she would say to her younger self if she could go all the way to ten years ago.

    The Nigerian actress wrote a lengthy letter on her Instagram page advising her younger self not to allow the “opinion of others shatter your dreams.”

    She wrote;

    “I’ve always wondered, what would I say to my younger self if I could meet me 10 years ago? People often say they would advice their younger self to not make the same mistakes, to be better & wiser, but somehow I disagree. I would ask my younger self to not let anyone define you. So this is what I have to say.

    Dear Self:

    Do not let the opinion of others shatter your dreams or your passion. That voice will call your dreams by many names: naïve, unrealistic, immature, and irresponsible.
    Trust your knowledge and that fire burning in your heart, that the world can be different, can be better and can be the way you want it to be. You don’t need to sell out and live a life complicit in maintaining the status. Rise above it!

    Powerful forces will attempt to make you conform to society’s normality. These will take the form of social pressure, parental pressure, and very likely, economic pressure. When you encounter them, please understand that they are giving you the opportunity to define yourself. When push comes, let them know, just who the bloody hell YOU are!!!
