Latest Hip Hop News: Eazy-E’s Family Unveils New Tombstone On His 55th Birthday
Eric Lynn Wright, popularly known as Eazy-E, died March 26, 1995, Los Angeles. The rapper would have been 55 years old on September 7, if he was alive. In honor of his special day, his family unveiled a new tombstone in a public ceremony at the Rose Hill Memorial Park and Mortuary in Whittier, California.
According to Wright’s son Lil Eazy-E, they would be doing this to surprise his sister Erica Wright.
“Come n celebrate this great accomplishment n Birthday surprise my sister @wrknwn0feelns has done for my father N the family with the help of @officialcemeterytim,” he wrote in the caption. “BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION TO FOLLOW THAT NIGHT CHECC MY STORY DAILY FOR INFO. MUCH LOVE.”
His old tombstone was very simple featuring his sunrise and sunset with only his birth name and a quote that said;
“We Loved Him A Lot But God Loved Him More.”
The new version features his signature red logo, with the title “The Godfather of Gangsta Rap” written in Old English right above his autograph. There are also several pictures of him with the phrase;
“We Put Compton On The Map.”
At the very bottom, they kept his sunrise and sunset as well as the same text as the first one, “We Loved Him A Lot But God Loved Him More.”
The late rapper’s family decided to take the old one to his mothers home in Compton and place it in the backyard in front of a wall with Wrights picture.
