Fabolous Message To Mark Father’s Day Was Strong, “I Commend You & Appreciate You”
The New York rapper had angered some of his fans when he wrote on Instagram, ‘When you turn 16 in New York, niggas don’t even say Happy Birthday.. They say “You old enough to go to The Island now!!”’ He was insinuating that 16 year olds are now being incarcerated and birthdays at that age, are more of reminders of going to jail. However, he’s bounced back from the backlash suffered to pen a strong Father’s Day message in celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds and the influence of fathers in society. Fabolous wrote:
“Fatherhood doesn’t come with an Instructions Manual, & many don’t have a male role model to learn from. Your parenting journey thus far hasn’t been perfect or what you anticipated.. you may not have done everything you wanted to do or needed to do… there’s many days you won’t get any credit & wanna give up.. times you’ll have to take on the responsibility other dads gave up on… and worse, sometimes people and even your own kids won’t appreciate all you do.. but stick in there Father’s of the World. You’re doing a great job. Balancing being a Dad, having a career, inner struggles, family problems, trust issues, friendship battles & so much more. Father’s I commend you & appreciate you. Happy Fathers Day to you all 🖤.”
