Current News Headlines: See Photos Of The Florida Baby Born The Size Of Soda – Expected To Beat Odds And Go Home Soon
According to WEAR-TV, Escambia County, Florida woman, Talisa Jackson, doesn’t want you telling her baby, Omaurian Logan Allen, who was born the size of soda, that he’s tiny. That’s because she believes he’s a fighter. Her bundle of joy was due May 12 but arrived January 26 at just 24 weeks. She said:
“He’s been fighting for his life. If he can do it. I can do it, anyone can do it.”
Initially, doctors in Alabama thought Talisa was having a miscarriage. However, she wasn’t satisfied with this and didn’t accept what the doctors said. She was then driven to Sacred Heart Hospital and an emergency cesarean section brought Logan into this world.
He’s been at the neonatal intensive care unit at Sacred Heart for the past four months. Talisa said:
“I had to watch him go through a lot. He died on me twice.”
“His mom is wrapped around his little finger. I’m with him every step of the way. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for him, for me and my whole family.”
Jackson says her baby now weighs 3 pounds and 11 ounces and will go home once he reaches 4 pounds. She added that the excitement to bring her baby home is ever-present and she’s looking forward to nights with him where she can remind him of his journey. She said:
“I had to share him with the NICU for four months. He’s powerful, he’s a miracle, he’s my champion. I tell him that every night and get the biggest smiles.”
According to Jackson, preeclampsia, a pregnancy complication, was what led to Logan’s premature arrival. She also warned women dealing with the condition to take it seriously and never give up. She assured:
“God makes no mistakes, trust the process, everything happens for a reason. Better days are coming and you will reach the day you can take your baby home.”
Talisa Jackson says the whole experience has given her a new perspective on life. She also believes it’s God’s work and hopes that in two weeks, hopes to bring Logan home.
