Current News Headlines: Georgia Deputies Shoot Fleeing Harmless Black Man In The Head
A homeless black man identified as Nicholas Bolton, 34, has been shot in the head by Georgia deputies while he was fleeing from them.
It’s understood a Coweta County sheriff’s deputy spotted Bolton sleeping in a vehicle parked outside a Newnan shopping center Sunday. The deputies are seen knocking on a car window and trying to speak to the homeless man but he drove off. They gave him a chase and pin Bolton’s still-revving vehicle between three cruisers. The sound of spinning tires is heard as deputies yell for Bolton to stop. He’s then shot by Deputy John Collins, who said he feared his colleague was going to be run over. Bolton was hospitalized.
On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said that the deputies were justified. The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is investigating.
