Ghanaian Star Kafui Danku Questioned On Why Ghanaian Celebs Give Foreign Names To Their Children
We all know foreign celebs give their kids all manners of names and sometimes, they are quizzed on this. Then again, nobody seems to bother when some public figures proudly display names such as ‘Butt’ ‘Gay’ and even ‘Cock’ attached to their names. However, it’s different when it comes to celeb babies. After sharing a photo of herself with her baby, Kafui Danku was questioned on why Ghanaian celebs give foreign names to their children. In her case, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this afterall, she’s married to a white man. Quite frankly, there’s nothing wrong with foreign names as long as the local ones are also attached.
However, what we failed to understand was the response Kafui Danku gave when asked why Ghanaian celebs give foreign names to their children. Anyway, a commenter asked:
“pretty babe…but what’s this thing about Ghanaian celebs giving foreign names to their children? just don’t get, must a celebrity copy what Beyonces,Niki Minaj,Kim Kardashians? pls we have a culture a protect…dnt we have local names more blessed than these foreign names? Babe Lorde can be Nyameba,or Mawuvi, etc…must we “anglisize” everything?”
Kafui then replies:
“@mankash.aa Good opinion, first of all, it’s not a celebrity issue, I know a lot of Ghanaians with foreign names who cannot even speak a word of their own language . If I start from you and your immediate family right now, I’ll find you guilty preach this to your own family first, especially the ones who speak English to their children etc … and then you can preach it to other people .”
Looks like the actress went all out for the commenter who asked an innocent but very important question. It’s no surprise the commenter later apologized for asking but not after thanking Kafui Danku.
“@kafuidanku ,thanks for the understanding but you sounded uncomfortable at the last paragraph, to say I shd start preaching it from my family is a lil on the low side…I was just offering a harmless criticism to a creeping social problem that’s all, trust me,your name Kafui Danku makes me your ardent fun, purely local name, well, let’s not labour the issues, sorry if my criticism doesn’t sit well with you…sorry…..I’m still your fun tho unless you decide to “un-fun” me,lol”.
On a lighter note, Baby Lorde wants her cute little hat back. Her facial expression suggests she’s not having any of it. LOL!
