President Buhari and the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, gave out the hand of their last daughter, Hanan, on Friday, September 4 , in marriage to Mohammed Turad Sha’aban. In a bid to respect COVID-19 protocols, the wedding will be the first to be held inside Presidential Villa, Abuja.
It’s understood that two Juma’at prayers, one for the regular Friday prayers and the second for the wedding, were held at Aso Rock.
Imam Abdulwahid Suleiman of the State House Mosque took charge of the holy solemnization of the wedding.
Aisha Buhari shared some photos on her Instagram page. She wrote;
“Today is a great and happy day for my family as we witnessed the wedding of my daughter, Aisha Hanan Buhari to Mohammed Turad Sani Sha’aban.
“I am overwhelmed by the outpour of goodwill and support from family, friends and well wishers. Let me use this opportunity to thank everyone that graced the occasion with their presence and those that could not, for the understanding that at this time of a global pandemic and the need to strictly adhere to the advice of our health authorities necessitated limited gathering.
“We appreciate your prayers for a blessed union, for the couple as they begin their marital life.”
Meanwhile, Mohammed Turad Sha’aban is the son of former First Lady of Lagos State and ex-wife of Buba Marwa, Munira. However, the groom was from her first marriage before she married Marwa. While his father, Alhaji Mahmud Sanni Sha’ban, is a Buhari’s close friend.
Sha’ban was a former lawmaker who represented Sabon Gari, Zaria in the 5th Assembly. He was also a former gubernatorial candidate in the 2007 and 2011 elections.
