Ayodeji Richard Makun, popularly known as AY, has written an emotional letter to his late father.
According to the Nigerian comedian, he has become the man his fathet always wanted him to become. AY also disclosed that his mother was in such a hurry to join her husband in heaven so that they can continue to play their favourite game of Ludo even in heaven.
Sharing a black and white photo of his dad, he wrote;
“Hello dad, How are you? PLEASE! No need to make faces at me from your resting place. My values and respect are still very much intact…. and the word “How are you” is very common in this present generation. Even my daughter says it to me everyday.
How is my mother? I know she is happy with you over there. She was in such a hurry to join you to play your favourite game of Ludo even in heaven. It’s been 21 years since you left us. But I am still finding time to get acquainted with the idea of death and what it means for those of us you two left behind.
Memories of you exposes me to how naive my existence was before I was forced to confront life to become the man that you had always wanted me to be. I remember how you would beat the living daylight out of me for touching any of your daughters, and later console me by letting me know that such actions might encourage me to beat my own wife in future. Anyways, they are all doing well at home and abroad with their children. Lanre and Yomi are doing well too. They followed my lead to point of marrying Yellow pawpaw like me. Lol. You were so right about asking me to always carry my younger brothers along by showing them the right path. But I am beginning to suspect that they even know more than I do presently.They are equally doing well with their families in Lagos with every sense of hustling decency.
Our collective growing success story will forever be inextricably linked to your moral conducts, your energy and determination to always make a mark in all that you did. You will forever be in our hearts until the day imt stops beating. And I am grateful for the man you made me become . You passed when we were about to transit into a new year. I wish you were around today to shout that HAPPY NEW YEAR with us and reap the multiple fruit of your labour.
KEEP RESTING DAD. HAPPY NEW YEAR”
