MTV European Music Awards has finally bowed to public outcry from Tanzanians when Nigerian singer Wizkid was wrongfully presented the “Best Africa Act” award despite Tanzanian sensation Alikiba clearly leading the votes.
Despite Alikiba leading the votes, the organisers went ahead to give Wizkid the trophy during the ceremony in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Wizkid has acted fast and deleted all Instagram posts regarding the award.
This isn’t the first time Alikiba would put Wizkid in his place. He humbled the Nigerian singer during Chris Brown’s Mombasa Rocks Music Festival in Kenya. Alikiba made it clear that although Wizkid was the bigger music brand across Africa, he was more popular in Kenya. Therefore, based on this, he would perform after Wizkid.
So Alikiba has somehow crushed Wizkid on both occasions that their paths crossed making it clear that he is a force to be reckoned with as far as African music is concerned.
