Taking to Twitter, Nicki Minaj sent out congratulatory messages to Bronx star Cardi B after “Bodak Yellow” hit No. 1 on Billboard Top 100. She wrote:
“Congratulations to a fellow NEW YAWKA on a RECORD BREAKING achievement. Bardi, this is the only thing that matters!!! Enjoy it @iamcardib”.
Cardi B really appreciated this and made it known when she responded to Nicki Minaj’s tweet. She wrote:
“Thank you!! This means sooo much coming from you!! ❤️”.
Meanwhile, fans had been trying to get Nicki Minaj to hate on Cardi B. For several weeks, rumours had swirled regarding a potential feud between the two female MCs after Cardi’s meteoric rise. Nicki had even unleashed a blistering verse on London On Da Beat’s record “No Flag,” where she rapped:
“Lil’ bitch I heard these labels tryna make another me/ Everything you getting little hoe is cause of me.”
Fans had assumed Cardi fired back in retaliation on G-Eazy’s new record “No Limit,” where she countered with lines like:
“Can you stop with all the subs?/ Bitch I ain’t Jared.”
Cardi B is now the second female rapper since Lauryn Hill to score a No. 1 record on the Hot 100 without any guest appearances.
