Latest Hip Hop News: Nicki Minaj Says She’s Retiring From Music to “Have My Family”
It appears Nicki Minaj will eventually give up her career to have a family. The “MEGATRON” rapper announced on Twitter Thursday, “I’ve decided to retire and have my family,” she tweeted. “I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, in the box—cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE.”
Nicki’s fans were left surprised wondering if the rapper was pulling a prank.
“Nicki stop this ain’t funny,” one commenter wrote. “I’m not prepared for this [right now].”
“Please say sike,” added another.
Others questioned if a fifth album would ever see the light of day.
“@NICKIMINAJ WE NEED NM5,” a follower tweeted.
However, there were those who pledged to support the star no matter what.
“Whatever decision you make, we want you to be happy,” a social media user claimed.
The summer has been so full of speculation for Minaj. Last month, she changed her Twitter name to “Mrs. Petty” which led many into wondering if she and Kenneth Petty had tied the knot. Rumours were further intensified by the fact that the 36-year-old had already called Petty her husband for months. Several online publications also disclosed having a ‘source’ who claimed the two got a marriage license.

Again, in June, Minaj sparked pregnancy rumours after she enjoyed a Red Lobster dinner date with Jimmy Fallon for an episode of The Tonight Show. After the show, the “Anaconda” rapper made it clear that “no alcohol was consumed in the making of our dinner date.” Despite all the rumours, Nicki never addressed them. If you recall, back in January, she also tweeted that she had already discussed baby names with her beau.
