How Lady Barred Omoni Oboli From Passing By Her Seat On Recent Flight
Omoni Oboli was left in tears during a recent flight after a lady ‘bluntly’ refused to let her pass by her seat.
According to the Nigerian actress, she wanted to occupy the empty seat next to the lady and not just pass by it. However, the passenger didn’t know this. She made it clear to Omoni Oboli that “she didn’t want to encourage bad behavior” by allowing the actress access in this manner.
From the post, Omoni wanted to switch seats because ‘I wanted to sit near someone I could at least say hello to” as the lady could speak both English and French which she also also understands. However, the actress disclosed that the guy beside her had been praying throughout which made her uncomfortable.
She wrote:
“In a world where you can be anything, being kind should be one of them.
On a recent flight, I decided to move my seat. I went to a lady behind me and asked to pass by her (I was going to seat on the empty seat next to her but she didn’t know this). She had her legs stretched out and said to me very bluntly that I couldn’t go past her cos it wasn’t a passage and she didn’t want to encourage bad behavior. I thought I must have heard wrong and asked her again. She told me to go through somewhere else. At that point, I was so heartbroken, I quietly went back to my seat. To my shock and utter dismay, I found tears dropping from my eyes involuntarily.
I was upset at myself. I’m a grown woman! Why would that little encounter make me cry so I started to think and I realized what the problem was…
I was tired, it had been many many long days with loads of activities and plenty brain work with very little sleep. I was missing my family and just wanted to go home. I decided to move my seat because the guy beside me had been praying throughout and I wanted to sit near someone I could at least say hello to (very unlike me cos I usually just want to sleep). I had heard her speak French and English, both languages that I’m fluent in. She looked like a mother so she should be kind and loving…alas!
Why this long epistle? Be kind folks, you never know what people are dealing with. Your actions or words might be what tips them over the edge. God help us all”.
