There are people debating over Nollywood which is the Nigerian movie industry, being the reason why there is increased rate in r ituals in the country.
Some time last month, Nigerian music producer and singer, Samuel Oguachuba popularly known as Samklef, blamed Nollywood as the reason why young boys of today are involved in r itual killing so as to make money. He wrote on Twitter:
“Igbo Nollywood, English and Yoruba movies are the reasons why a lot of young boys are doing r ituals. They keep promoting fetish stuff in all their movies.
‘’Nigerian movie producers can do better, Everything must not be based on Juju and religion.”
Since then the Nigerian movie industry has been blamed for being the source through which the youths get their inspiration to make easy money.
While reacting to this in a video shared on his Instagram page, Kanayo O. Kanayo claimed that Nollywood as a film industry is based on social realism.
The popular actor who is also known to be amongst those who act such movies alongside Yul Edochie and Jerry Amilo, said that the movie industry only highlights what is actually going on in the society. He captioned the video:
