#RokMeTour2019: Nollywood Stars Visit Robben Island
We doubt if there is anybody who doesn’t know Nelson Mandela’s story and how he was locked away in Robben Island, Cape Town. The place has become the ultimate tourist attraction for anyone visiting not just that region but the whole Africa. Nollywood stars Annie Idibia, Bolanle Ninalowo, Mercy Aigbe, Mary Remmy Njoku and Jackie Appiah visited Robben Island as part of their #RokMeTour2019.
While reacting to her visit to Robben Island, Mercy Aigbe said;
“My visit to Robben Island Cape Town today, was such a monumental experience! …Such an amazing tour of history!!!!!… So insightful and very educative!! This island is where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 18years out of his 27years sentence and a lot of political prisoners lost their lives on this island…… I will be sharing videos and photos soon!!!!…”
Did you know that Robben Island was also a place of isoloation for lepers, animal quarantine station and home of prisoners from outside South Africa?
