It is important for everyone to learn about their cultural heritage regardless of age or whatever nationality you may have pledged your loyalty.
It’s true that some were born in different countries from where they originally come from or through naturalisation.
Anyone who is without an identity is lost in time. Thus, it is worth digging a little deeper into your roots.
You have to give it to the black Americans. They will keep researching into their past history until they find out what they seek. So many of them have traced their roots all the way back to Africa.
In fact, a certain lady I was talking to traced her roots to Nigeria – she found out she is originally an Igbo lady from Anambra state. That was how we became good friends.
In a recent Instagram post, Kenneth Okonkwo advised that parents should teach their children about their culture so that they won’t be lost in identity.
The popular veteran Nollywood actor shared a video of his son wearing traditional Igbo outfit. He then said in a voice of authority, “Igbo Kwenu”.
The thespian captioned;
“Ichie Chukwuchirimeze wishes you a happy weekend. Igbo kwezue nooooo! Teach them their culture so they will be grounded in their identity. Love to you all”
