Life & Style: Teen mum At Trezevant High Graduates With $1 Million In Scholarships
A teen mum identified as Lamyrical Harris, a student at Trezevant High School, has graduated with top honors and she also received more than $1 million in scholarships from at least 25 colleges. A photo shared of her on Facebook has received thousands of shares and likes already and those close to Harris say, there’s a driving force that kept her focused. Assistant Principal Yolanda Sherrod said:
“She came to school. She took care of business, and her motivation has been her child.”
It was during her junior year that Harris found out she was pregnant. She said;
“I was scared. It just made me go 10 times harder.”
She ultimately decided to keep working towards her goals which meant she gave birth to her son Laderrious Moore and still graduated as a valedictorian. Harris said:
“I want him to be valedictorian of his class, and I want him to have over a million dollars in scholarships.”
According to Harris, after she gave birth to her son, there were times she could barely walk. However, a teacher helped her remain focus with her eyes on the prize.
“At the end of junior year I had $200,000. By the time I hit senior year, I was at 500,000,” Harris said.
Eventually, she earned more than $1 million in scholarships. Meanwhile, Harris hasn’t decided which college she will attend. However, she says she’ll return to her alma mater to give back.
