There are so many circumstances that can lead people into depending on others to take care of their kids.
This is mostly due to financial reasons or just that insatiable urge to feel entitled to other people’s property.
In a new Instagram post, Kanayo O. Kanayo stated that failure to train the children of the poor could have its repercussions. He wrote:
“The children of the poor you failed to train will never let your children have peace . Happy Sunday and a productive week ahead”.
While we agree with the actor, it is not their entitlement.
Let us give you a typical example of what happened in Anambra State but of course, happens across Nigeria.
There was a banker who grew up in the Eastern part of Nigeria. He had to forget about going to the University so as to train his brothers and sisters and even help one go all the way to the United States to do his Masters.
Of course, the banker lived somewhere in Ikoyi, Lagos State, was married and had his own children whom were at the time in one of the best primary schools in the state. Not that he had so much money, but he figured investing in their education would be the wisest decision.
This did not go down well with his mother and the banker’s brothers and sisters as they steady ganged up against the good man and his family whenever they returned to the village. They also fought the wife all the time as they felt she was stopping the banker from giving them all his money.
It’s understood the old woman and her children started using charms “juju” to try and torment her son but failed because they were prayerful.
Fast-forward several years later, the banker’s nephews and nieces started making anonymous calls and even robbed the banker and his wife at gun point during one of their visits back home at the village. They stole hundreds of thousands of Naira while the man and his wife were made to lie flat on the ground outside.
It’s understood that all the while during the operation, the nephew was shouting that the money is his entitlement as a nephew and that he was taking only what he thought was his.
Not long after, the relative (nephew) was killed during another armed robbery.
We decided to share this story after seeing Kanayo’s post. The truth is you can train the so called children of the poor but greed will still make them attack their sponsor.
