Lateef Adedimeji has just disclosed that his critics have contributed greatly to his growth. In fact, the actor mentioned his closest friend and mentor as his greatest critics. These people do not hesitate to draw his attention to any “poor attitude” he displays.
However, Lateef notes that it isn’t always easy hearing some of the things they say to him as they appear harsh. He wrote in an Instagram post:
*One of the things that aids my growth is that i have a lot of critics. For instance, my closest friend and mentor are my greatest critics.* They are so strict that they do not allow any poor attitude from me pass by without drawing my attention to it.
*And sincerely, I don’t like them. I love them. Because they don’t tell me what I want to hear. They tell me what I need to hear, not minding my response. And risking our relationship just to ensure that I become better is something worthy of admiration.*
No doubt, *its not easy to hear that you are not improving, that you have body/mouth odour, that you had a poor presentation, or whatever shortcoming it is. But trust me, it can be empowering if you take it constructively irrespective of how you are being told.*
However, most people hate performance reviews because of their negative attitude towards feedback. They rather prefer the ones that massage their ego. Ken Blanchard would say, *”Feedback is the breakfast of Champions.”*
*But most people would rather go hungry and if this is you, you will never become a champion at what you do.*
